But to forty-something moms cum self-respecting skincare junkie, the question is this: can one possibly look young without using any anti-aging creams or wonder products?
So I have had this conservative approach personally as a mommy for quite sometime already.
I am NOT saying I won't ever try anti-aging products in my skincare routine.
Instead what I am saying is I have been trying only a number of skin care products not specifically devoted as an anti-aging formula.
Because one, it is expensive and the brand I specifically want is pegged at Php 700 plus; I could already buy a cleanser, a moisturizer, a beauty serum with that.
Another- I wanna answer this question for myself, that maybe or probably one can keep herself looking-young at 40, using this approach hence this post.
And so my immediate goal aesthetic-wise is to apply a skin care routine that is as minimalist as possible and prefer a makeup style that is sheer or a no-makeup, makeup style. And use foundation only once in while or sparingly.
I'm actually minimizing use of liquid foundation, not the powder foundation type with natural based ingredients just to make it clear.
For me, the more makeup a 40-something mom puts on her skin, the more her age, or aging becomes obvious.
So my idea is not to look incredulously young but to stretch one's youthful disposition and impression; and thus bear the stresses that go with being a middle-aged mom.
Simply put it -- a fortyish mom , sans wrinkles and white hair streaks that are often associated with aging chronologically.
Anyway, the stuff I am considering to do this job -- most of these items I have been using loyally are:
1. Human Nature's Sunflower Oil - a multi-purpose beauty oil that I use as a moisturizer on face and on other parts of the skin. It's non-greasy, light and it really makes the skin young-looking.
Ever since I tried this sunflower oil, it upstaged my favorite olive oil as a moisturizer. It's light and multi-purpose too. |
2. Human Nature Day Moisturizer- a light creamy lotion for the face that is formulated with natural ingredients. So far so good for me, this brand is a bestie favorite.
This moisturizer can outbest other products if you prefer natural-based ingredients. |
3. Celeteque Moisturizing Facial with SPF 15 as a sunblock - I have tried the same product in matte moisturizer with higher SPF, but this one I think is more comfortable to wear and more affordable than other brands.
4. Facial Mask - diy ala natural or commercially available- Choose between a peel off or leave-on essence mask before bedtime, I use a rejuvenating mask at least once or twice a week.
I've used this type of facial mask in my 30's and this is a nice alternative to the cucumber mask ala do-it-yourself homemade skin care use. |
5. Moisturizing Oil (Olive Oil; Johnson's baby oil) - I'm an old school mom hence my liking for using olive oil and Johnson's baby oil as an after bath or before bedtime moisturizer and it actually works so do not underestimate it's use.
7. Body Moisturizer Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula - I have tried many body moisturizers and this cocoa butter wonder does beauty good for dry skin. It smells deliciously nice, need I mention.
8. Eponge or facial cleansing sponge - aside from my facial wash that is meant to exfoliate, I alternate my facial scrub with the use of this eponge to scrub off dirt and soften my skin. It's gentler than your usual loofah.
